14-1 Deadline Hall breaks maiden at Mohawk

Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted another 10-dash harness racing card Tuesday evening, and the biggest upset came in the seventh race.

Deadline Hall (Muscle Mass) went off at 14-1 at post time and found himself in front down the stretch. His :28.3 final quarter time was too much for the rest of the field, and he won the second race of his career. He posted a mile time of 1:55.2 which is now his lifetime mark. The three-year-old trotter went winless in his rookie year but got his first win earlier in his sophomore year. This was the only win on the night for trainer Matthew Bax and driver Chris Christofou.

DEADLINE HALL REPLAY

Sylvain Filion and Tyler Jones were the only drivers to earn multiple wins on the card.
Filion won the opener with the two-year-old filly, Twin B Empress (Always B Miki). This was the debut for the Kevin Benn trained pacer, and she managed a solid 1:54.0 mile time. Filion’s second win came in the sixth race with the gelding Unbeatable Kemp (Walner). The mile was trotted in the time of 1:54.3. Second win in four starts for the Robert Fellows trained four-year-old trotter.

Jones’s first win of the night came with Bettor Than Pride (Bettarthancheddar) in the third race of the evening. This is only the second lifetime win for the four-year-old pacing gelding, and it came with a huge mile time of 1:51.3. A couple of races later, in the fifth, Jones steered Tactical Planner (Tactical Landing) wire-to-wire for her second win in her last six starts. The mile time for the fifth race was 1:55.1. The young trotter is coming off a sixth-place finish at the Meadowlands.

Woodbine Mohawk Park has another 10-race card on Aug. 3 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
