2023 Masters odds, predictions, picks: Tiger Woods projection from top golf model that called Scheffler's win

Rory McIlroy has been chasing a Masters victory to complete his career grand slam for eight years. He's finished top 10 at the Masters six times during that span, including a runner-up last year. Now, he'll head to Augusta National Golf Club from April 6-9 hoping to end an eight-year major championship drought at the 2023 Masters and become the sixth player to win the modern grand slam. His close friend and business partner Tiger Woods is one of the five players to win the career grand slam and ended an 11-year major championship drought of his own at the 2019 Masters.

Woods is 47 years old and hasn't played much competitive golf since a serious car accident, but he's 55-1 in the 2023 Masters odds from Caesars Sportsbook. McIlroy is 17-2, while Jon Rahm is the 15-2 favorite and defending champion Scottie Scheffler comes in at 8-1 in the Masters odds 2023. Before locking in your 2023 Masters picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up over $8,400 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model predicted Jon Rahm to finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. The model also included J.T. Poston in its best bets to win the 2022 John Deere Classic. That bet hit at +5500, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned almost $1,100. At the 2022 Masters, McClure's model was all over Scottie Scheffler's first career major championship victory heading into the weekend.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Collin Morikawa winning outright at the 2021 Open Championship, even though he was listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. The model was also all over Rahm's (10-1) first career major championship victory at the 2021 U.S. Open. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the weekend, but the model still projected him as the winner.

This same model has also nailed a whopping eight majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2023 Masters field is taking shape, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2023 Masters predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2023 Masters: Jordan Spieth, a three-time major champion and one of the top favorites, struggles mightily at Augusta National and doesn't even crack the top 12. He has finished outside the top 30 in four of his last eight tournaments, including a 31st place at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. Spieth missed the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii and Genesis Invitational, as he continues to struggle with consistency.

Spieth only had one victory in 22 events played last season, missing the cut in five of those tournaments. Spieth had six top-10s during that stretch, but the Masters 2023 will be one of the most competitive fields of the season. He has not proven to be a trustworthy betting option, so SportsLine's model is fading him at Augusta.

The model has also revealed where Tiger will finish at the 2023 Masters. After missing the 2021 Genesis Invitational while recovering from back surgery, Woods was involved in a single-car accident that left him with multiple compound fractures to his right leg. He'd miss more than a year recovering, but returned to the 2022 Masters with an inspired performance, making the cut despite appearing as if he could barely walk.

Woods went on to play in two more major championships, making the cut initially at the U.S. Open but withdrawing because of pain in his leg and then missing the cut at the 2022 Open Championship. He returned to competitive action in February at the Genesis Invitational and made the cut against an elevated-status field, showcasing added distance off the tee in the process.
