The 2023 college football season is just around the corner, and Michigan is one of the hottest picks on the board of futures betting odds.

Here, we will preview the top Michigan betting lines, including win totals and College Football Playoff odds.

2023 Michigan win total prop: Over 10.5 wins (-135 or better)

Michigan is widely considered one of the top five programs in college football. That expectation has placed their win total at 10.5, giving them a maximum of one loss if they want to hit the over.

Michigan returns quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who demonstrated his ability in high-leverage games against Ohio State (263 passing yards and four total touchdowns) and TCU (395 total yards and three touchdowns).

McCarthy will be joined in the backfield by a devastating one-two punch of Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards, who combined to rush for nearly 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns last season.

The offensive line and tight end groups are solid, but the wide receiver position leaves a bit to be desired (especially compared to the wideouts rival Ohio State will field).

The Wolverines went bombs away against the Buckeyes in their Big Ten clash last season, but will find it hard to replicate that with their current crop of pass-catchers.

UM’s defense was elite and should be at or near the same level again. They ranked seventh in scoring defense (one spot behind the offense) and were only two spots behind the Georgia Bulldogs.

They are also deeper and even more experienced and will be a handful in the trenches.

Jim Harbaugh will miss the first three games of the season due to an in-house suspension for alleged recruiting violations, but UM is heavily favored in all of those games and should escape unscathed.

But can they go 11-1 or 12-0? Even with matchups at Michigan State, at Penn State and against Ohio State, we believe they can.

Michigan to make CFP odds: (+125 or better)

Both Michigan and Ohio State could theoretically escape the Big Ten and qualify for the College Football Playoff.

But despite the betting odds favoring the Buckeyes, we believe the Wolverines will build off of their win against their rivals last season and finish ahead of them for the second straight season.

Michigan is about +125 to make the playoff, just behind OSU at +115.

USC, LSU, and several other teams have legitimate chances to upset the apple cart, but we see the Wolverines as the best team in the Big Ten and likely to reach the College Football Playoff.
