Ohio State is expected to be one of the best teams in the Big Ten and in college football in 2023, as well as one of the most popular picks in futures betting markets.

Here, we will go over the top Ohio State odds and betting lines.

2023 Ohio State win total prop: Over 10.5 wins (+100 or better)

Ohio State has very little margin for error if they want to hit the over on their win total. That line is set at 10.5, which means they can’t afford more than one loss.

Ohio State has hit 11+ wins (including the postseason) in 10 straight seasons, excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign.

They have a tough schedule in front of them with matchups at Notre Dame, Penn State and at Michigan to close out the year, which will put their record to the test.

The Buckeyes lost the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft, C.J. Stroud, and still have a developing quarterback battle. Their offensive line is also a concern after years of stellar play.

Head coach Ryan Day has flirted with the idea of delegating play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Brian Hartline. That represents another unknown variable in the equation that is Ohio State’s season.

Defensively, Jim Knowles should have his team playing even better than they did in his first year with the program -- a year in which they ranked 25th in scoring defense and gave up 21 points per game.

However, they gave up 43.5 points on average to Michigan and Georgia, and need to toughen up -- especially in the trenches -- to take down the big dogs.

Regardless of roster turnover, Ohio State is too talented not to hit double-digit wins and we believe they will get to 11.

But we still think Michigan is better and don’t see the Buckeyes winning the Big Ten.

Ohio State to make CFP odds: (+115 or better)

Ohio State is the betting favorite to win the Big Ten at +165 to Michigan’s +180. They are also the second-most-likely team to reach the College Football Playoff at +115, per betting odds.

The Big Ten is expected to be so strong that it’s possible both Michigan and OSU make it in. Even though we like the Wolverines better, an 11-1 season with a loss to UM would still put them well within reach of the CFP.

That being said, the value of the line is a turn-off.

Just +115 for a team we consider second-best in its own conference is not alluring with the likes of USC (+250) and LSU (+380) among top contenders outside the top four in odds.

Value becomes irrelevant if the Buckeyes make it in, but the odds should make bettors consider alternatives if nothing else.
