2023 NHL Western Conference Finals: Vegas Golden Knights vs Dallas Stars Game 1 Preview and Prediction

It is time for the Western Conference Finals to begin as the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights are set to start their playoff battle. Puck-drop for game one is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EST from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dallas comes into this game after dispatching the feisty Seattle Kraken in seven games. It took everything that the Stars had to finally knock out the Kraken and now they get a major test with the Golden Knights. Vegas has the power to match Dallas on both sides of the ice but the Stars are one of the deepest teams in the NHL. They should be able to use that to their advantage in this series and it all starts here in game one as they try to make a statement. The key for Dallas is to take one of the first two games on the road before the series shifts back to Texas and no better chance than game one. If the Stars can use their strong defense to shut down Vegas and allow their offense to flow, they could be in line to steal this road game.

As for the Golden Knights, they ousted the Edmonton Oilers in six games in the previous series. They went against one of the best offenses in the NHL and seemed to make easy work of them. Vegas has a good enough defense to match their solid offensive attack, making them a true problem for opposing teams. As they face off against the Stars, they will need to get the offense clicking early. If they get into a grind, it out, slower pace, it favors Dallas. But a high-powered offensive attack game and Vegas has Dallas playing a style that they are a little uncomfortable playing. If the Golden Knights can use their physicality to force Dallas into bad shot attempts, it could be over early with Vegas taking the early series lead.
