Vegas Golden Knights vs Colorado Avalanche Game Preview and Prediction 2/27/2023

Two of the NHL’s best battle it out tonight as the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche face each other from Pepsi Center. Puck-drop between the two teams is set for 9 p.m. EST.

The Golden Knights come into this game atop of the Pacific Division, holding a record of 35-18-6 on the season. They have gone 6-1-3 over their last 10 games as well. On offense, the Golden Knights have averaged 3.20 goals per game and are allowing only 2.76 goals to opponents on average. The defense for Vegas has been their calling card and is a major reason as to why they find themselves squarely in the hunt for the best record in the Western Conference.

As for the defending champions, they have really picked things up of late. Colorado has won five straight games and have gone 7-1-2 over their last 10 games overall. After a slow start to the season, the Avalanche have caught fire and are finally looking like the team that many expected them to be before the year started. They average 3.12 goals per game but like the Golden Knights, are led by their defense. Colorado is only giving up 2.70 goals per game to opponents on the season. If they want to continue their winning ways, the defense will need to stay strong, especially against the Golden Knights tonight.

Prediction: Colorado Avalanche 3, Vegas Golden Knights 2

I see this being a lower scoring game tonight with two teams that are led by great defenses. It will be a physical game but I have the home team coming out with the win.
