The 123rd US Open is set to tee off on Thursday and for the first time, it will be hosted by the Los Angeles Country Club in Southern California.

Below are our favorite 2023 US Open sleeper picks for what many consider to be golf’s toughest major.

2023 US Open picks: Best dark horse odds for Los Angeles Country Club

The 2023 US Open at LACC will be the first major to hit the Los Angeles area in 28 years.

As you’d expect, the field is packed with 156 of the world’s best, each vying to have their name etched on the iconic US Open Championship Trophy.

Here are our favorite 2023 US Open dark horse picks for anyone betting on the event.

2023 US Open long shot picks: Max Homa (+2900 or better)

It’s no secret that Max Homa has struggled in major tournaments, but that could change this week at the Los Angeles Country Club.

The Burbank native is back on California turf, where he has won four of his six PGA titles. And he happens to hold the course record at the LACC after he shot a 61 on his way to winning the Pac-12 Championship in 2013.

The track is designed to be a second-shot course, which suits Homa’s iron game perfectly. Homa has two wins this season and is coming off a T9 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

US Open sleeper picks: Corey Conners (+7500 or better)

By all accounts, the LACC is going to favor ball strikers, and Corey Conners is one of the game’s best.

The Canadian picked up his second PGA Tour victory a couple months ago at the Valero Texas Open and has been playing solid golf most of the season.

He entered the final round of the PGA Championship just one stroke back of the lead before seven bogeys derailed his chances.

He should be better prepared this time around after his taste of big-stage pressure that only a major can provide. At +7500 or better, it could be worth taking a flier on the 31-year-old.

US Open dark horse bets: Si Woo Kim (+12000 or better)

Si Woo Kim proved he had the mettle to mingle with the big boys on tour at just 21 years old when he became the youngest player ever to win The Players Championship in 2017.

He has four wins on tour, most recently in January at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Currently sixth in the FedEx Cup rankings, Kim is coming off a 4th-place finish at the grueling Memorial Tournament two weeks ago.

The South Korea native has four top-15 finishes at majors but has never finished higher than T12. Still, this is a value play with inflated odds at FanDuel and other sportsbooks.
