2024 MLB Cy Young Award Odds and Predictions for AL and NL

Will we have a repeat winner in 2024? The Yankees’ ace Gerrit Cole finally got over the hump and won the coveted award for the first time in his career. He has an excellent chance to go back-to-back this upcoming season. Padres’ Blake Snell became the 22nd pitcher in the history of the game to win multiple Cy Young Awards in a career. There is plenty of talent in the league for someone else to claim the honor in 2024. Keep in mind, Snell has not signed with a club yet, so his odds will not be listed until he signs a contract. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best bets to win this year’s award.

Doc’s Sports offers MLB expert picks for every game on our baseball predictions page.

American League Cy Young Odds

Gerrit Cole +500 – Kevin Gausman +700 – Framber Valdez +750 – Corbin Burnes +1000

Pablo Lopez +1200 – Luis Castillo +1300 – George Kirby +1400 – Tarik Skubal +1600

Logan Gilbert +2500 – Dylan Cease +2500

Gerrit Cole, New York Yankees +500

Do not expect Cole to take his foot off the accelerator. The right-hander is easily one of MLB’s most dominant players on the mound. He enters his 12th season in the league having earned Cy Young votes in each of the past six years, with five Top 5 finishes over that span. Cole finished 2023 with a 15-4 record, 2.63 ERA, and 222 strikeouts in 209 innings pitched. Pitching in a city where the lights shine brightest, Cole can easily repeat.

Corbin Burnes, Baltimore Orioles +1000

Sticking with the AL East, Burnes is set up for success in Baltimore. If he could bring home the award in 2024, he would be the O’s first recipient since 1980. He would also be the eighth player to win the award in each league. He finished 2023 with a 3.39 ERA and struck out 200 hitters. The 29-year-old is playing for a contract after this season and should be able to dominate hitters in the AL.

Pablo Lopez, Minnesota Twins +1200

Lopez may have been one of the most improved pitchers in 2023. He made his first All-Star team and received Cy Young votes for the first time in his career. He set a career high in strikeouts with 234 and started 32 games for the Twins, while posting a 3.66 ERA. He provides a ton of upside as last year was his first professional season that he started using a curveball consistently. He would be the first Twin to win the award since Johan Santana in 2006.

National League Cy Young Odds

Spencer Strider +550 – Zack Wheeler +800 – Logan Webb +950 – Zac Gallen +1200

Yoshinobu Yamamoto +1300 – Max Fried +1300 – Kodai Senga +1500 – Justin Steele +1500

Tyler Glasnow +1900 – Aaron Nola +2200

Spencer Strider, Atlanta Braves +550

Only seven National League pitchers threw more innings than Strider in 2023. He led the league in strikeout rate (36.8%) and FIP (2.85). His only blemish was a 3.86 ERA, mainly due to an unexpected high home run rate. Strider still compiled a 20-5 record, struck out 281 batters, and posted a 1.09 WHIP. Betting on MLB’s best strikeout arm, who is the best pitcher on the league’s best team is never a bad choice.

Logan Webb, San Francisco Giants +950

Webb has solidified himself as the Giants’ leader of the pitching staff and has received Cy Young votes in each of the last two seasons. Webb’s changeup is absolutely filthy and arguably the most valuable pitch in baseball behind Gerrit Cole’s four-seamer. He led the majors in innings pitched in 2023 and had the third-lowest walk rate among qualified starters. He would be the first Giant to win the award since Tim Lincecum in 2009.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Los Angeles Dodgers +1300

Wager on someone who has never thrown a pitch at the big-league level? The Dodgers are paying Yamamoto like a Cy Young contender and that is exactly what I expect. He won three straight Sawamura Awards in NPB, the Japanese Cy Young Award, and enters this year in his prime at age-25. If you tuned in to the last World Baseball Classic, he displayed his talents front and center. I expect big things from Yamamoto.
