2024 World Series odds: What does Vegas say about Rangers, Astros chances at next title?

Is it too soon to start thinking about next season?

Not for Vegas and the oddsmakers, as the World Series odds for the 2024 season started popping up shortly after the Rangers

At this time last season, the Rangers were one of the longest shots in MLB to win the World Series, opening in November of 2022 at +5000 odds to win it all. After the free agent signings and the hiring of Bruce Bochy in the offseason they were bumped up to the middle of the pack at +2500. Regardless: If you were a taker on either of those, chances are you’ve had quite an enjoyable week.

The odds for 2024, of course, are a different story. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Rangers are debuting at +800 to repeat as World Series champions, tied for third in the majors behind the Atlanta Braves (+600) and the LA Dodgers (+700).

“The Rangers just won the World Series, but it seems we haven’t even seen the best version of this team just yet,” FanDuel’s Annie Nader wrote.

To add to the intrigue, the team the Rangers are tied for third with is none other than the Houston Astros, the money bet at the moment being an ALCS rematch in 2024.

The Philadelphia Phillies (+1000), Tampa Bay Rays (+1300), the Toronto Blue Jays (+1600) and the New York Yankees (+1600) all come in just behind the Rangers.

The Rangers’ AL West bunkmate Seattle Mariners come in at +2000, 12th in MLB. Fellow division mates of the Rangers are toward the bottom, the LA Angels at +10000 and the Oakland A’s, the league longshot,Phillies at +250000.

The Arizona Diamondbacks, the team Texas just defeated in the World Series, are at +4000, tied with the Cubs, Cardinals and Red Sox.
