70 Flying 15s from all over the world have entered the 2022 European Championship to be sailed in the Solent from 21st to 25th August. The European Championships will consist of 8 races over 4 days, split by a special one-off race on Tuesday 23rd August, starting from the Royal Yacht Squadron line. Competition will be held at the Commodore’s House, Uffa Fox's last residence. CCYC is the home of Flying Fifteens in Cowes and has a fleet of a dozen boats.
Graham Vials and Chris Turner are current and 4-time world champions. Ian Pinnell and Ian Cadwallader are sailing a new boat called 'Oooh La La'. Jeremy Davy and Martin Huett came 2nd at the 2022 UK Championships Series and won the Southerns this year. Greg Wells from Hayling Island SC sailing another new vessel 'Noughty' came 3rd at 2022 Haylings Island Nationals. Phillipa Packer from Western Australia is sailing ‘Firefly’ and Campbell Alexander from South Africa is competing in “Rand Hedge”.
