5 Premier League managers sack chances ranked as Erik ten Hag and Heckingbottom under serious threat

Former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has taken to the English Premier League like a duck to water as his Tottenham Hotspur side sit at the summit after 10 games - the best start of any new boss in England's cut-throat top flight.

It's an unforgiving environment and the experienced Aussie can count on his time in the Scottish Premiership as well as with the Australia national team to help him cope. Others, though, aren't coping quite as well and we're now reaching that point in the season when club chairmen start to get a bit twitchy. Erik ten Hag is feeling the heat at Manchester United as he continues to be in the shade of all-conquering rivals City.

Mauricio Pochettino is another and he faces Postecoglou and former club Spurs - who he led to a Champions League final and had them challenging for the title in the season Leicester City were shock winners - with new club Chelsea. It's a big weekend south of the border and the axe could fall if results don't go the right way for some. Here, Record Sport picks out a quintet of bosses who are under most pressure at this stage of the season.

Paul Heckingbottom (Sheffield United)

The former Hibs gaffer got that dreaded vote of confidence at the start of the month but things haven’t improved much and the Blades have just one point as they prop up the Premier League table. A 5-0 thumping by Arsenal at the weekend was a SIXTH straight loss and unsurprisingly he’s odds on to be the first to leave his post.

Axe chances: Trigger pull imminent

Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth)

The Cherries ruthlessly sacked Gary O’Neill despite him leading them to top flight safety last season with the Spaniard put in charge at the Vitality Stadium. O’Neil was later appointed Wolves boss and currently has double the points return of his Bournemouth successor, including a win for O’Neil against his old club.

Axe chances: Bournemouth board will be getting twitchy

Erik ten Hag (Manchester United)

A derby drubbing at the hands of City - a fifth Premier League defeat of the season - has increased the pressure on the Dutchman.

Problems are mounting at Old Trafford for the ex Ajax gaffer with players reportedly starting to question him and the Jadon Sancho row not helping. He needs to turn things round - and quickly.

Axe chances: It’s Red Devils alert

Mauricio Pochettino (Chelsea)

The Argentinian was appointed in the summer after a disastrous last season with new owner Todd Boehly looking to the former Spurs and PSG boss to rescue them. But they lost at home to west London rivals Brentford - and have only beaten newly-promoted Luton Town at Stamford Bridge - to leave them languishing in eleventh place in the English top flight.

Axe chances: Boehly needs more bang for his buck or else…

Vincent Kompany (Burnley)

Defeat to relegation rivals Bournemouth has left the Manchester City and Belgian legend under real pressure, despite such an impressive season in taking the Clarets to the top flight. It has shown what a massive jump it is to the EPL and he needs to show signs his men can adapt.

Axe chances: It’s Turf at the top and he’s third favourite with the bookies to go
