A guide to the Prince of Wales Stakes running on Sept. 13 in Fort Erie
The 87th Prince of Wales Stakes is set to run on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Fort Erie Race Track.
The Prince of Wales Stakes is the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown. It is run on the dirt over a mile and three sixteenths and is open to Canadian-bred three-year-olds.
The Fort Erie Race Track's richest race of the year has a purse of $400,000. This year's race features a field of seven, including Queen's Plate third-place finisher Sir for Sure and one local entry, Collaborative. Queen’s Plate winner Moira is skipping the Fort. Erie race, so there will be no Triple Crown winner in 2022.
Duke of Love, Ironstone, W.V. Armata, Collaborative, Fast Feet, Sir for Sure, Mike A. Dunslow, Ice Road, Hunt Master and Hunt Buntain are the horses that are going to compete in the Prince of Wales Stakes on September 13 in Fort Erie.
Post time at Fort Erie on Tuesday is 1 p.m. The Prince of Wales Stakes is scheduled to go to the post at approximately 5:40 p.,m., and the card also includes two $100,000 Ontario Sires Heritage Series St. Stake, the Rondeau Bay Staking and Lake Erie Staken.
