ALDS Game 3: Baltimore Orioles at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

The Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers play Game 3 of an AL Division Series Tuesday. First pitch from Globe Life Field is scheduled for 8:03 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Orioles vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

ALDS Series: Rangers lead 2-0

Baltimore lost 11-8 in Game 2 on Sunday. The Orioles had jumped out to a 2-0 lead before giving up the next 9 runs over the 2nd and 3rd innings to fall into an insurmountable hole. The O’s fought back to make things respectable, plating 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but couldn’t finish the comeback and fell in an 0-2 series hole. Baltimore suffered a 3-2 setback in the series opener on Saturday.

The Rangers have pushed the O’s to the brink of elimination, while going a perfect 4-for-4 in the postseason, all against AL East teams. After sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays in 2 games in an AL Wild Card series, the Rangers can broom the O’s in 3 games and punch their ticket to the ALCS with a victory.

Game 3 was stunning for a number of reasons, one of which was that Baltimore pitching had allowed just 17 runs in the previous 9 games (1.9 runs per game (RPG)), before coughing up 11 runs in Game 2. The Over result snapped a 9-game Under result but the Under is still 11-2 in the past 13 games overall for the O’s.

Orioles at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Orioles 2

The RANGERS (-142) are playing their first home playoff game after going a perfect 4-0 on the road. Will playing in front of the home fans change anything? It’s unlikely.

The Orioles roll out one of their best pitchers in Kremer, but he has no postseason experience. He’ll be going up against the most experienced active postseason pitcher the Rangers have on their roster. Eovaldi carved up the Rays in a wild-card clincher, pitching into the 7th inning, and that’s not a good thing for Baltimore.

The RANGERS -1.5 (+140) are worth playing lightly, although you can expect that the Orioles aren’t just going to roll over in Game 3. Baltimore won 101 regular-season games, and it was 2-1 in 3 games in Texas earlier this summer. Still, Texas is rolling right along, and Eovaldi is the difference.

The UNDER 9 (-105) is the way to go again after a high-scoring Game 2.

The Under is 11-2 in the past 13 games overall for the Orioles dating back to the regular season. The Under also has a slight 5-4 lean for the O’s in the past 9 starts by Kremer.

The Over is 5-4-1 in the Rangers’ last 10 home starts by Eovaldi but the Under is 2-2 in Texas postseason play so far and is 6-2-1 in its last 9 games overall.
