Orioles vs. Rangers prediction and odds for ALDS Game 3 (Can Texas sweep?)

The Texas Rangers have won four straight postseason games, knocking the Tampa Bay Rays out of the wild card and then taking back-to-back contests in Baltimore against the Orioles in the ALDS. 

The series now shifts to Texas, where the red-hot Rangers bats are looking to slam the door shut on the AL East division winners season. 

Nathan Eovaldi, who tossed 6.2 innings of one-run ball against Tampa in the wild card, gets the ball for the Rangers. The Orioles have not announced a starter for this game, but it’s likely one of Dean Kremer or Jack Flaherty gets the ball. 

Baltimore battled in Game 2, scoring eight runs, but the team’s young pitching has not been able to outduel Texas.

Let’s dive into the pitching matchup and odds for Game 3: 

Don’t be shocked if Texas completes the sweep in this spot. 

I’m guessing that Kremer will get the start since the O’s used Flaherty out of the bullpen at the end of the regular season, but the young righty had a 4.12 ERA and 4.51 FIP this season. 

He also had multiple starts in September where he allowed at least five runs. 

The O’s were great all season long, but their bullpen is going to be taxed after Grayson Rodriguez couldn’t get through three innings in Game 2. Now, they have to take on a starter in Eovaldi who has been great in the playoffs in his career. 

Eovaldi enters this game with a 2.90 ERA in 12 playoff appearances, and he shut down the Rays in the wild card despite coming off a bit of a shaky finish to the season. 

Texas’ offense, which carried it at times in the regular season, has started to heat up in the playoffs, and it should take advantage of Baltimore’s worst starter option going into this game. 

The O’s are young and going to be good for awhile, but this team looks overmatched in the playoffs. I’ll trust Eovaldi to turn in a solid start at home and move Texas to the ALCS.
