Analyzing Elisa Balsamo's year in the rainbow jersey

Elisa Balsamo won the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta in Madrid. It was Balamo's last race in the rainbow jersey. She won nine races in her 12 months in it. Ballyamo was disqualified from Paris-Roubaix for a 'sticky bottle' during the race.   The 24-year-old Italian is a favorite to win the title again next week. Her final stage win came at the postponed Women's Tour. The other eight wins happened this year with a mix of wins. They included two stage wins at Giro d'Italia Donne and the Trofeo Alfredo Binda.

Elisa Balsamo won eight races this season. She won the junior world title in 2016. Trek-Segafredo signed her on a three-year contract before her worlds win. Balamo is also a track star. Her 2021 season will be focused on the track program at the Olympic Games. She has a full-force team of seven riders. Italy has better chance of winning the Olympics than most. The team is made up of riders from the World Tour. They are also better equipped than other teams. Elisa won a rainbow jersey this year. It was her first professional win at Omloop van Borsele.
