Tour de Romandie Féminin 2022 Preview
The women's Tour de Romandie Féminin is taking place from the 7th to the 9th of October 2022. The race spans three stages, with the standout one being the climb to Thyon 2000. Most of the biggest stars in the women’s peloton are expected to be on the startline in Lausanne.
The first stage of the Tour de Romandie Féminin starts in Lausanne and finishes in L'Ausanche. The route is punchy and has several climbs. There is a flat 14 km run-in to the finish. The general classification is unlikely to be decided today. It could be a stage for those who can hold on to their wheels over the climbs and pack a punch at the end.
The stage two of the 2022 Tour de Romandie Féminin is the most difficult. The riders will have to fight for survival on the climb to Thyon 2000. Annemiek van Vleuten won the Tour of France Femmes in the inaugural edition. Movistar will find it difficult to control the race. The last time the Women’s WorldTour saw climbs of such a distance was in Tour De France.
The third stage of the 2022 Tour de Romandie Féminin is 146.6 km. The first 30 km are flat. There is a climb Villars-Le-Comte. After that the route is mostly flat with a few kickers. With 33 km remaining the peloton faces a short third category climb. Today is likely to be a day for a bunch sprint.
Annemiek van Vleuten is one of the favourites for the 2022 Tour de Romandie Féminin. Demi Vollering of Team SD Worx is another contender for overall victory. FDJ-Suez-Futuroscope has a triple-pronged attack in the form of Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, Évita Muzic and Marta Cavalli. Liane Lippert of team DSM was one the strongest climbers at the recent World Championships and was unlucky to miss out on a medal.
Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig will win the 2022 Tour de Romandie Féminin. She won the World Championships. Annemiek van Vleuten is the bookies' favorite.
