Aston Villa vs Brighton predictions: Free-flowing attacks can prosper

- There have been four or more goals in all six of Brighton’s Premier League matches
- Aston Villa's two home league games this term have featured exactly four goals each
- Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals

Aston Villa and Brighton are both living up to last season’s standards, showing that they have the squad depth and talent to balance their Premier League duties with a campaign in Europe.

Villa finished seventh in the Premier League last season, booking their place in the Europa Conference League, and they sit sixth after six games. They have won four of those fixtures which includes a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Chelsea last time out.

Brighton, meanwhile, ended last season in sixth, one point above Villa, and they have won five of their opening six matches, accounting for both Newcastle and Manchester United during that run.

Villa completed a league double over the Seagulls last season, winning 2-1 home and away, and Brighton’s early matches suggest goals may again be on the menu in Saturday’s lunch-time kickoff.

Aston Villa remain without attacking talents Emiliano Buendia and Bertrand Traore, while defensive trio Kortney Hause, Diego Carlos and Tyrone Mings are also sidelined.

Jacob Ramsey is working his way back to full fitness and, after two substitute appearances against Legia Warsaw and Chelsea, is closing in on his return to the starting 11.

Brighton have teenage talent Julio Enciso and Jakub Moder ruled out for the trip to Villa Park.

James Milner and Pascal Gross were forced to sit out the 3-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend and must be assessed.

Brighton have won five of their opening six league games this season and each of their last three victories have finished 3-1.

Both teams have scored in all six of those fixtures and every contest has featured at least four goals.

Aston Villa are, however, unbeaten in five league meetings with Brighton, winning each of the last four. Both clashes last season saw the Villans triumph 2-1.

Unai Emery’s side have won four of their first six league assignments and there have been four or more goals scored in four of those encounters.

Interestingly, Villa have won each of their last nine Premier League games on home soil.

Aston Villa and Brighton are two teams that continue to go from strength to strength in the Premier League and Saturday’s showdown at Villa Park promises to be a belter.

Brighton are the Premier League’s leading scorers so far this season with 18 goals scored in six matches, although they have conceded in each of those contests.

The slick Seagulls have won five of their opening six games, but they will have had a day less to prepare for this fixture after both teams were involved in midweek EFL Cup action, while Villa Park is also a fortress.

Villa have won each of their last nine Premier League home matches, which includes a 4-0 thrashing of Everton and a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace this season.

Emery’s men recorded a league double over Brighton last term, winning 2-1 on each occasion, and they are sure to make their presence felt again.

But the visitors are in confident spirits and they are scoring freely, which is highlighted by three successive 3-1 victories over Newcastle, Manchester United and Bournemouth.
