ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably try the Pirates here. Ortiz had a bad start versus St. Louis late last month (3.1 innings; five earned), but in his two outings since he’s done well. Ortiz has three combined earned runs in 11.0 innings over his last pair, winning both. As for Winans, he hasn’t pitched since August 21 in a loss to the Mets. Winans gave up seven earned in 4.1 frames in that one, but he’d done well in his previous outing. Pittsburgh had a pretty good offensive outing on Saturday, and if they can keep the bats going I think the Pirates have a solid shot in the finale.
