Both teams started the 2023 season with a loss, meaning that they’re now hungry for points. Austin FC lost to MLS debutants St. Louis City 3-2 after a real battle on the pitch. Meanwhile, CF Montreal’s first game of the season saw them lose 2-0 to Inter Miami.

In the second MLS season in the history of the franchise, Austin FC went all the way to the Western Conference Final, where they lost to eventual MLS Cup champions, Los Angeles FC. They got to the playoffs after finishing second in the West with a 16-8-10 record and a score differential of 65-49.

More than one-third of their regular-season goals last year was the work of Sebastien Driussi. The Argentine forward ended up on the scoresheet in the first game of 2023 as well. And we think he might do the same on Saturday.

But will Driussi’s output be enough for his team to win all three points? Well, he might be their best player, but Austin FC aren’t a one-man team. Instead, they have plenty of other players who could cause serious problems for their Canadian rivals.

This, of course, doesn’t mean CF Montreal are coming to Texas waving a white flag. On the contrary, they’re going to fight for points on Saturday. Unfortunately for them, they probably don’t have the manpower to beat Austin FC, but we can see them grabbing one point.  

Prediction

This is going to be a great game for soccer fans, with plenty of excitement on both ends. We think both teams will put at least one away, with the most likely outcome being the draw.
