The new NBA season is off to a blazing start with thrilling buzzer-beaters, chilling individual performances, and surprising upsets. Monday presents an 11-game slate, so there are a plethora of NBA bets to choose from. Luka Doncic and LeBron James are among the players we are looking out for tonight.
These two division rivals are off to opposite starts in 2023-24. The Mavericks are riding high off their “Luka special” to a 2-0 start.
The Grizzlies, on the other hand, are one of four of the league’s remaining winless teams. While the Grizzlies won the final three games of their series with Dallas last season, Monday presents a new challenge. Aside from the fact that Memphis is playing without superstar guard Ja Morant, who is suspended for the first 25 games of this season, Dallas looks like an offensive juggernaut this season. The Mavericks rank second in the league with 125.5 points per game. Memphis has struggled to get stops defensively and will struggle with Luka Doncic and the rest of the Mavericks. LeBron James and the Lakers are not exactly off to the start they were looking for. The Lakers are 1-2 (0-3 ATS) and coming off a disappointing overtime loss in Sacramento. They have played three really good teams, however. There are other reasons to back the Lakers on BetMGM.
The Magic, led by their league-best defense, have to be considered one of the more surprising, bright stories of this young season. But when one looks at their schedule, their 2-0 start may have to be accompanied by a decent-sized grain of salt. The Lakers have won six straight games against the Magic. With Orlando playing their second straight game far from home, we expect LeBron and the Lakers to make it seven, comfortably.

Poeltl has yet to eclipse this number this season, averaging seven points through Toronto’s first three games. The reason for optimism to hit this number is twofold. One, Poeltl averaged 13.1 points per game last season, his third straight year averaging at least 12 points. Second, Precious Achiuwa, Poeltl’s primary competition for minutes at center, is doubtful to play in Monday’s matchup against Portland. DraftKings’ number is tempting enough for us to bet on Poeltl having a big game against the Blazers. Chris Boucher will get some extended run, but most of the minutes at the five will likely go to Poeltl, increasing his odds to hit the over of 9.5 points.
