Best bets at Sandown April 29

The final Grade One of the British National Hunt season takes place at Sandown on Saturday, as many of the sports top chasers battle it out in the Celebration Chase. This two-mile Grade One has been won by many of the sport's finest chasers, including greats like Well Chief, Sprinter Sacre and Altior.

We've taken a look through the betting for this year's Celebration Chase and picked out our best betting tips.

2023 Celebration Chase Entries

Altior was a novice when he won the first of his three Celebration Chases. Nicky Henderson will be hoping that Jonbon, a two-time Grade One winner in novice company this term, will follow in his former stablemate's footsteps.

Greaneteen has run out an impressive winner of the last two Celebration Chases, beating Altior in 2021 before claiming an emphatic 12-length victory 12 months ago. Captain Guinness skipped another showdown with Energumene at Punchestown to target this Grade One and Rachael Blackmore travels over to take the ride.

Clarence House winner, will be looking to bounce back to winning form, following a limp performance in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham. Two-time Game Spirit Chase winner, Funambule Sivola completes the field.

2023 Celebration Chase Tips

All of Captain Guiness' best performances have come on soft ground and I fancy Rachael Blackmore's mount could find himself a little outpaced on Saturday's going. Editeur Du Gite has only gone right-handed twice in the last two seasons and jumped markedly out to his left on both occasions. Gary Moore's star won't get away with such antics on Saturday.

Jonbon adds plenty of extra spice to the final Grade One of the National Hunt season and he'll love the ground on Saturday. As will GREANETEEN who, thanks to the presence of Jonbon, sits at an appealing price in the market.

Paul Nicholls' nine-year-old looked as good as ever when winning at Exeter on his reappearance and wasn't disgraced behind the rampant Edwardstone as he attempted to defend his Tingle Creek crown. Harry Cobden's mount has looked a little laboured on his last two starts, but Sandown is Greaneteen's spiritual home and I expect the defending champion will take plenty of beating.
