What kind of performances can we expect on Sunday from Jrue Holiday, Herbert Jones, and Trey Murphy? Follow along as our NBA betting expert, Nick Galaida, breaks down his three favorite NBA prop bets for January 29 on the hardwood

NBA Sunday began with an early afternoon affair between the Miami Heat and Charlotte Hornets, but there are still three games on the evening slate for bettors to attack. Even with only eight teams in action today, the NBA injury report features a laundry list of notable names, including Zion Williamson, C.J. McCollum, Brandon Ingram, Donovan Mitchell, and others. Though the absence of key players can make betting on sides and totals a difficult task, it opens up plenty of opportunities on the player prop market.

Yesterday, we went 1-2, ending our streak of consecutive profitable days in this article at seven. Nevertheless, across the last 30 days, we are 49-39-2, including a 16-8 run across the last eight days. Below, we have three spots we are targeting for January 29 on the hardwood.

NBA Player Props, January 29, 2023

Jrue Holiday o4.5 rebounds (-120), PointsBet

Per CourtIQ, when Bobby Portis is off of the floor this season, Jrue Holiday is averaging 6.4 rebounds per 36 minutes of action. On Wednesday, with Portis not in uniform, Holiday had five rebounds on 10 rebound chances. On Friday, with Portis once again out of the lineup, Holiday had nine rebounds on 14 rebound chances. This evening, Portis has been ruled out for his third consecutive game, meaning that Holiday’s volume on the glass is likely to remain high – take the over.

Herbert Jones o3.5 rebounds (-125), MGM

Entering play, Herb Jones has eclipsed this market number in four consecutive games. Today, he will take the floor without Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and C.J. McCollum – three notable absences for the New Orleans Pelicans. Per CourtIQ, Jones is averaging 4.1 rebounds per 36 minutes this season with each of those three players on the sidelines. Expect him to be active on the boards on Sunday, and for him to have a great chance to cash the over in this spot.

Trey Murphy o3.5 rebounds (-120), DraftKings

In three games played this season with both Brandon Ingram and C.J. McCollum in street clothes, Trey Murphy is averaging 4.3 rebounds per contest and has eclipsed this market number twice, per props.cash. According to CourtIQ, Murphy is averaging 5.9 rebounds per 36 minutes of action this season with each of Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and C.J. McCollum off of the floor. Playing without their three stars this season, the New Orleans Pelicans rank in the 93rd percentile in defensive efficiency, meaning that there should be plenty of missed shots that need rebounding. On a small slate, this is a worthwhile risk for bettors.
