Best NBA prop bets today for Celtics vs. Pacers (Jaylen Brown should thrive)

The Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers face off for the second time in as many games on Monday, but this time it will happen without one Celtics star.

Jayson Tatum (injury management) has been ruled out for this game.

While that’s not a great sign for the Celtics, it is a great sign for prop bettors, as Jaylen Brown is a player I think is still undervalued with Tatum ruled out.

Here are three props to consider for this Eastern Conference showdown:

Jaylen Brown OVER 3.5 assists

With Tatum out, Jaylen Brown has been a monster this season, especially passing the ball.

Brown recorded six assists in each of the games he’s played without Tatum this season, and the star wing is averaging 3.6 dimes per game already in the 2023-24 campaign.

I expect Brown to get more chances to initiate the offense in a fast-paced game (Indiana is No. 1 in pace). Plus, the Pacers have struggled defensively this season, ranking 26th in the league in defensive rating. This prop for Brown may be my favorite of the night.

Jaylen Brown OVER 27.5 points

Sticking with JB, I also like him to go OVER his points total against this Pacers team.

I mentioned the fast pace and poor defense, but Brown’s offensive role also expands in a big way with Tatum out this season.

Brown scored 31 and 28 points in his first two games without Tatum, taking over 18 shots per contest. He also attempted five and seven free throws in those games.

Indiana is an OVER bettor's dream, as the team wants to run, run, run, and play offense. Brown could be in for a massive game tonight.

Tyrese Haliburton OVER 11.5 assists

I’m buying low on Tyrese Haliburton here, as he’s averaging 12.7 assists per game in the No. 1 offense in the NBA.

The Celtics held Hali to just seven dimes on Saturday night, but the All-Star guard has eight games since Dec. 1 with 12 or more assists. He is averaging 13.5 assists per game over his last 16 games.

He’s worth a shot against a Boston team playing at less than 100 percent on Monday.
