Thursday 8pm: Manchester United v Chelsea
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Manchester United to Win

The penultimate fixture for Manchester United this season sees them welcoming Chelsea to the Theatre of Dreams on Thursday night. A point will officially secure The Red Devils with a spot in the Champions League next season while a result for Chelsea will do very little as they are destined for a finish in the bottom half of the table regardless. It’s hard to believe that Fulham have won four more games this season than the Blues. But, that aside, let’s focus on Thursday’s fixture.

United enter this tie as comfortable favourites. Chelsea haven’t been able to pull it out of the bag all season, and that was before they brought Frank Lampard in to ‘steady the ship’. This game will mean little to Chelsea, but an opportunity for Erik ten Hag to clinch a Champions League spot going into the last game of the season will surely be a target that he’s set for his side. Overall, this should be a game that United Win relatively comfortably.

Under 2.5 Goals

Although we mentioned a comfortable victory, we’re not suggesting that it’ll be a big win on the goals front. Chelsea have only seen Under 2.5 Goals in two of their last five games. The hosts, on the other hand, have seen Unders in all of their last five. Considering the fact that we’re expecting United to be the ones doing the scoring and dominating the play, we anticipate that United extend that five game streak to six.

Marcus Rashford to Have 2 or More Shots On Target

Marcus Rashford ranks in the 95th percentile in Europe in terms of shots taken this season. Beyond that, he ranks in the 98th percentile in terms of non-expected goals. What does all that mean? Well it means he’s very good at finding the target! Rashford’s averaging just below 1.5 shots on target per game, and coming up against a side that is as void of identity as Chelsea, it’s reasonable to expect him to perform above even his own lofty standards in this one. I’ll take Rashford to Have 2 or More Shots On Target.

Over 9.5 Corners

United’s home games this season have averaged 10.47 corners per game. Chelsea matches, on the other hand, when playing away average out at 9.83 corners per game. All this would lead us to back Over 9.5 Corners and play is a little less ambitious than some of the other legs in this Bet Builder.

Over 2.5 Cards

Both United and Chelsea sit level in the Premier League this season in terms of yellow cards received with 76 cards doled out to each side over the last 36 matches. This averages out to a touch over two yellow cards, per team, per game. Once again, we’re going to play this one a little more cautiously as the season is drawing to a close, and some of the intensity of earlier in the year wears off. We’ll take Over 2.5 Cards.
