While this game obviously feels like last year’s thrilling AFC Championship, in which the Bengals recovered from an 18-point deficit to clinch a Super Bowl berth, the circumstances are a bit different.

Patrick Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain against the Jaguars and while he played well in the second half of that win, it will be a tough test for him and the Chiefs this weekend. He’s 1-3 against the Bengals in his career.

Even with the ankle injury, Mahomes is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He’s been efficient and dynamic this season, being able to extend plays with his feet to give his receivers extra time.

Travis Kelce has been sensational in the postseason, he had 14 catches and two scores against the Jaguars. Since Mahomes is playing injured, he’ll likely rely on the big guy as plays break down, so look for Kelce to put up good yards here and a score.

The Bengals have been tough against the pass, as they smothered Josh Allen and held him to a passer rating below 70 in their win against the Bills.

Cincy has been able to disrupt the flow of the otherwise impressive Kansas City offense in the past. Mahomes’ fewest completions of the year came against the Bengals in Week 13.

Burrow played well in that win, going 25 for 31 with 286 passing yards and three total touchdowns.

A defensive key for the Chiefs will be quarterback pressure from their defensive line. This season, Burrow was able to stay up despite a relatively weak offensive line due, in part, to his quick release.

Considering how young the Chiefs’ secondary is, the defensive line will need to step up and apply some pressure to avoid getting burned downfield. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have been making secondaries pay all season and, if the Chiefs aren’t able to pressure Burrow, they’re susceptible to big plays from both receivers.

The Bengals have been able to help Burrow by utilizing the ground game during the playoffs. Running back Joe Mixon played well against the Bills, putting up 105 rushing yards and one score.

Cincinnati will need a good game from him and Samaje Perine to clinch another Super Bowl berth. The run opens up the play action and gives Burrow a bit more time to find receivers downfield.

The Bengals were 1.5-point road favorites as of midweek on BetMGM with the O/U at 46.5. Considering how well both teams have been scoring this year, there’s a worthwhile play on the over if you’re looking for a totals bet.

Overall, back the Bengals on the moneyline here as Burrow and company make their way back to the Super Bowl.
