BetMGM promo code MLIVEMGM: Receive $1,500 back on TNF bets

Thursday Night Football is a battle at the bottom of the AFC West for the 5-8 Los Angeles Chargers and the 5-8 Las Vegas Raiders. A loss for either of the teams on TNF could mean the death of their playoff dreams.

The Raiders come into Thursday Night Football on a three-game losing streak, while the Chargers have lost four of their last five but did win against the New England Patriots in Week 13. The Patriots are now one of two teams officially eliminated from the playoffs.

The headline for L.A. is the likely loss of their starting quarterback Justin Herbert. Thanks in large part to that question mark at the quarterback position, the odds favor the home team. Here are the game odds for Chargers vs. Raiders on BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Chargers come into this game with the confidence that they’ve already beaten the Raiders once, winning 24-17 in Week 4. But the bad news for L.A. is Justin Herbert fractured his index finger in the loss to Denver on Sunday. As of Monday, Herbert’s status for Thursday Night Football doesn’t look good.

Insiders say that it’s time to call off Herbert for the season. The team was on a three-game slide before a dismal 6-0 win over the Patriots in Week 13. Easton Stick replaced Herbert in the second half of Sunday’s game against the Broncos and will likely start the rest of the four remaining games. Most analysts think the season is a lost cause, and the team needs to focus on protecting Herbert for next year.

We just mentioned the Chargers lifeless 6-0 game in Week 13. Well, the Raiders gave them a run for their money, going scoreless in a 3-0 loss to the Vikings on Sunday. The game was the lowest-scoring NFL game since 2007 and almost went scoreless into overtime.

There’s very little hope for the Raiders this year too.

In their game against the Vikings, Aidan O’Connell went 21-of-32 for 171 yards. Other than two big passes (one for 38 yards followed by a fumble two plays later and one last-ditch 24-yard effort), the Raiders averaged 2.7 yards per play.

Other sportsbooks have the total set at 34, so we like the money on BetMGM to go over 33.5. Of course, these two teams were part of two of the lowest-scoring games all season. However, the Raiders are allowing an average of 19.9 points per game, while the Chargers are at 21.7.

Plenty to make over 33.5 total. Last week’s TNF game between the Patriots and Steelers also had a low point total and the two teams found a way to hit the over in the first half.
