Everton vs. Newcastle Odds, Predictions & Betting Tips

Everton take on Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Thursday evening as the midweek schedule draws to an end. The game is live on BT Sport and we’ve asked Anthony Eadson to provide us with his best bets for the game.

After a goalless draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, Everton are now five games without a win in the Premier League and at the time of writing they sit inside the relegation zone, one point from safety. The Toffees are 8/11 with some betting sites to be relegated this season and a win against Newcastle would be pivotal in prolonging their top-flight status.

Newcastle on the other hand arrive here after one of their strongest performances in the last decade after a thumping 6-1 home victory over Spurs. Eddie Howe’s side have a five point gap between themselves and Aston Villa in fifth, but do have games in hand over both Villa and Spurs. A win here would be another step towards confirming Champions League football for next season

Everton vs Newcastle Tips

Dominic Calvert-Lewin Over 1.5 Shots

First up I’m taking a punt on Dominic Calvert-Lewin who after what seems like years, finally seems to be getting back towards full fitness. Sean Dyche has been meticulous in the process of bringing the striker back into his side after the lack of game time over the last year going as far as checking if he was using an appropriate mattress on his bed!

After completing 89 minutes at Palace on Saturday DCL should start from the off again here and it’s a huge game in which Everton must show some attacking intent if they are to get anything against this superb Newcastle side.

Calvert-Lewin let off three shots against Palace and looking at his five most recent shot totals in the Premier League, they read: 2,2,1,4,3. I’m surprised to see this selection priced at even money with Unibet while other firms such as Betfair and Paddy Power go just 1/3 about the same selection.

Alexander Isak to score & Joelinton to be carded

For my longshot I’m going with a repeat of my double from Sunday with Alexander Isak to score and Joelinton to be carded at 8/1. Isak found the net twice against Spurs last weekend and now has four goals in his last four appearances. One of the most accurate strikers in the league Isak can find more joy on Merseyside to add to his tally of 10 goals in just 15 appearances (4 apps as a sub).

Paired with Isak to score is Joelinton to be carded. With 19 yellows across his last 62 league matches the Brazilian can certainly be considered a repeat offender when it comes to cautions. This term Joelinton has six in just 13 away matches and at 8/1 for this double, I think it has a little more legs than the odds suggest.
