BHA to ‘explore options’ as concerns raised over whip rules. Winners of races could be disqualified if their rider contravenes whip regulations. National Hunt jockeys will be able to ride without being subject to the new sanctions. The full implementation of the rules in jump racing begins on February 6. Flat counterparts begin with a bedding-in period on Feb 27. Full implementation is from March 27, with the framework defining a major race defining all Class One and Two races. The framework defines a class one and two race as any race with prize-money over £27,500 on the Flat and £20,000 over jumps.
