Biggest Cricket Matches and Tournaments to Look Forward to in 2023

The New Year is here. Cricket is not taking any time off. There are matches and tournaments to look forward to in the coming days and until 2024.

Big Bash League is a domestic Twenty20 cricket competition. It's currently part way through its 2022-23 season. Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes are the joint favourites to win.

Sri Lanka's tour of India began on January 3rd. The first T20 match was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Next the teams will play ODI matches at Pune and Rajkot. Third and final match will take place at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.

The Indian Premier League starts in late March. Last year's league was won by the Gujarat Titans. Gujarat are favourites to win again in 2023. Deli Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore are also favourites.

Pakistan will play five T20 matches against New Zealand in the spring. The first match will be played at the National Stadium in Karachi on Thursday 13th April. There will also be five ODIs, two in late April and three in early May.

The 2023 Ashes begins on Friday 16th June for a five-day test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. It will then move to the famous Lords Cricket Ground in London on Wednesday 28th for the second Test. Three more tests will follow in July, first at Headingley in Leeds, then Old Trafford in Manchester and finally back to London for Test at Kennington Oval.
