Blue Jays vs. Guardians prediction and odds for Monday, August 7 (Hyun Jin Ryu poised for strong start)

After it looked like they were letting their wild card spot slip from their fingers, but they bounced back in a big way by sweeping the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.

Now, they'll head to Cleveland for a four-game set as they look to stay hot. Hyun Jin Ryu will make his second start since returning to the Jays rotation. Can he put together a solid start?

Let's find out what the oddsmakers think.

Hyun Jin Ryu's first start did not go as well as people had hoped. He allowed nine hits and four earned runs in 5.0 innings pitched. But, he has a fantastic matchup ahead of him tonight in the Guardians.

The Guardians have been the worst team against left-handed pitchers all season. They rank dead last in OPS against lefties at just .663. That's a drop from .709 against right-handed pitchers.

So, if there's a team for Ryu to get some momentum against, it's Cleveland.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays offense is starting to heat up. They rank seventh in the Majors in OPS over the past two weeks at .805. Part of this hot streak over the weekend has been Davis Schneider, who was called up to the Jays from their AAA affiliate.

He has two home runs and is batting .692 in his first three games in the Majors. He's hot start has given the Jays momentum and I see no reason to keep backing them tonight.

I'll back them as small favorites in Cleveland.
