The best thing you can do when looking ahead to this ACC battle on Friday is see who is playing the better football. The Eagles of Boston College have lost two straight meetings against the Orange of Syracuse. However, those past teams are not playing on the field at the JMA Wireless Dome on Friday night, the current versions of these teams are lining up. And Boston College is actually playing some pretty good football lately, rattling off four straight wins, including three victories in one-score games. It also went to Army and to Georgia Tech for back-to-back wins October 7 and 21.

For Syracuse, head coach Dino Babers had this team off to a 4-0 start, and the offense was humming. It, too, beat Army on September 23 by a 29-16 score, if you’re looking to common opponents. That’s where the commonality ends, however. ‘Cuse has dropped four in a row, and someone just turned off the offensive spigot, with the points slowing to a crawl. In the past four outings in losses to Clemson, North Carolina, Florida State and Virginia Tech, the Orange is good for just 34 total points, or 8.5 points per game (PPG). The defense has allowed 31 or more points in each of those games. Boston College isn’t likely to be that prolific on offense, but its defense has conceded plenty of points, too. It won’t be easy for B.C., but it should get the job done on the road against a wounded ‘Cuse side.
