ACC Football Week 9: Game Previews and Spread Predictions
After a bye week, Week 9 sees twelve ACC teams in action. No. 24 NC State beat Virginia Tech 22-21 on Thursday night. Three of the four highest ranked teams are in the conference on Saturday.
Notre Dame (4-3) plays at No. 16 Syracuse (6-1) in the ACC on Saturday at noon ET. The game is a near pick-em between the two teams. Syracuse has been the conference's biggest surprise with a 6-0 start. Notre Dame has fallen far from their preseason Top 5 AP ranking.
Syracuse took its first loss of the season last week. The conference-leading Orange defense should have no problem feasting against Drew Pyne and the uninspiring Notre Dame offensive unit.
Boston College (2-5) is a heavy favorite against Connecticut (3-6) in the ACC Football Week 9. The Eagles lost 43-15 to Wake Forest last week. Zay Flowers has the second-most 100-yard games in school history.
60 percent of bets are coming in on Connecticut. The line has moved two points in their direction since open. Boston College has the conference's worst offense.
Georgia Tech (3-4) and Florida State (4-3) are playing each other on Saturday at noon ET. Georgia Tech started 1-2 before going 2-1 in ACC games under interim coach Brent Key. Florida St. has dropped three straight in conference play after opening the season with four wins. Jeff Sims went down with a foot injury against Virginia last Thursday.
Florida State is favored by 23.5 points against Georgia Tech. The Seminoles covered heavy spreads against Duquesne and Boston College this season.
Miami (3-4) and Virginia (4-3) are playing each other this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET. Mario Cristobal and Tony Elliott are trying to salvage their debut seasons. Miami lost 45-21 at home to Duke last week. Freshman Jake Garcia will start for the Hurricanes. Virginia beat Georgia Tech 16-9 last Thursday.
Miami is third in the ACC with around 448 yards of offense per game. Miami is top four in sacks and interceptions. The Hurricanes are underdogs at Miami -2.
Pittsburgh (4-3) is the defending champion in the ACC. North Carolina (6-1) won the first game of the season. Pittsburgh lost to Louisville last week. The Tar Heels have won three straight games. They are the division-leading team.
Pittsburgh is favored to beat UNC. UNC has the worst rushing defense in the ACC. Pittsburgh will rely on Abanikanda and Slovis. Pittsburgh is 5-5 in games with Abaikan.
