Eagles Still Have Time to Fly

The Boston College Eagles fell to 4-5 on the road this season following an 84-76 loss at Florida State on Tuesday night. The loss completed the season sweep for the Seminoles over the Eagles. The two teams were tied at the half 43-43 but BC couldn't slow down the Seminoles' offense in the second half, including a 10-0 FSU run near the 10-minute mark that sealed the deal. Quinten Post led the Eagles with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists while Mason Madsen added 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists. The Eagles shot nearly 52% from the field but allowed the Seminoles to shoot 55% from the field.

The Eagles still have outside aspirations of earning an NCAA Tournament invite but they have little to no room for error down the stretch. A road win over NC State would indeed be a crucial quad 1 win for the Eagles and give them stronger consideration. The Eagles are 7th in the ACC in scoring this season. They are fourth in field goal shooting percentage overall and fifth in 3-point shooting in the conference. The Eagles are 7th in the ACC in 3-point field goals made per game. On the defensive end, the Eagles are just 11th in the ACC in scoring defense. They are 13th in field goal defense and 14th in 3-point defense in the ACC. Despite some length up front, the Eagles are just 11th in the conference in total rebounds per game. They are 7th in fewest turnovers per game in ACC play.

Nobody does it better when it comes to NCAAB Picks!

Wolfpack Still Dancing on Bubbles

The North Carolina State Wolfpack's NCAA Tournament hopes took a hit on Tuesday night in an 87-83 loss to Syracuse at home. The Wolfpack fell behind by 15 points at halftime and trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half before storming back. The comeback fell short, however, and NC State's bubble situation took a hit. DJ Horne led the way with a season-high 32 points for the Wolfpack. He was joined in double figures by DJ Burns Jr., Ben Middlebrooks, and Jayden Taylor in the game. Burns and Middlebrooks finished with 12 points and Taylor chipped in with 10. Middlebrooks had a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds as well. The Wolfpack briefly took the lead at 82-81 but Syracuse closed strong to pull out a critical road win.

The Wolfpack need to bounce back quickly on Saturday against the Eagles in order to stay in the hunt for an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. This is the second matchup between the two teams this season with NC State winning the opener at Boston College. The Wolfpack come in ranked 9th in the ACC in scoring this season. They are 11th in field goal shooting overall and 10th in 3-point shooting. The Wolfpack are 11th in the ACC in three-point field goals made per game. On the defensive end, the Wolfpack rank 9th in scoring defense in the conference. They are 10th in field goal defense and 12th in 3-point defense. NC State is eighth in the conference in total rebounds per game. They are extremely efficient, ranking second in the conference in fewest turnovers per game.

The Eagles' defense will spell doom in this game for them against NC State. The Eagles defense struggles both on the perimeter and in the paint. That will be an issue against a Wolfpack offense that features the red-hot Horne on the perimeter and the equally dangerous Burns in the paint. The Eagles also catch the Wolfpack coming off a disappointing loss to Syracuse on Tuesday night. The pair combined for nearly 40 points in the win at BC earlier this season and that was before Horne had turned into a legitimate scoring machine for the Wolfpack. NC State won that game, in overtime, despite getting just four points and 16 minutes out of Middlebrooks. He will give them more minutes and more production in the rematch and the Wolfpack will pick up an all-important win over an Eagles team that has yet to earn a quality road win this season.

Take NC State.
