Bournemouth join £5m Karl Darlow transfer race as Cherries look to give Newcastle goalkeeper Premier League lifeline

BOURNEMOUTH have joined the race for Karl Darlow and could give the Newcastle United goalkeeper a shock lifeline in the Premier League.

Darlow is available for £5million and the Cherries are interested if they sell Mark Travers to one of his admirers.

Middlesbrough and Blackburn are also keen on 32-year-old Darlow.

But the move is becoming more expensive as the interest in him increases.

Boro could turn to QPR’s Seny Dieng if they can agree a price.

And, if he leaves, Rangers may go in hard for veteran free agent Asmir Begovic.

Darlow spent the second half of last season on loan with Championship side Hull.

And that cost him a chance to play in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final showdown with Manchester United at Wembley.

Toon were left without a keeper for their first final since the 1999 FA Cup final.

First choice Nick Pope was suspended after being sent off in a Premier League clash with Liverpool.

While back-up Martin Dubravka was ineligible, having already played in the competition while on loan with the Red Devils earlier in the campaign.

Toon fans were desperate for Darlow to be recalled from his loan but former Liverpool keeper Loris Karius was ultimately drafted in as Eddie Howe’s side lost 2-0.
