Bees to make life difficult for Gunners

Premier League hostilities resume today after the international break and there is a big clash at the Gtech Community Stadium, where Brentford entertain title hopefuls Arsenal.

The Gunners are third in the table, just a point adrift of leaders Manchester City, while the Bees are down in 12th place after a mixed start to the campaign.

Arsenal are in the thick of the Premier League title race and they went into the break with a 3-1 victory over Burnley at the Emirates, their fourth consecutive home win in all competitions.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are yet to taste defeat in nine home assignments this term, with draws against Fulham and Tottenham the only times they have failed to get all three points at the Emirates.

But their away form has not been quite as impressive and they could be worth taking on at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Arsenal have lost their previous two games on the road – at West Ham in the League Cup and Newcastle in the Premier League – and they have won just one of their past five away fixtures.

The Gunners have triumphed on the road at Crystal Palace and Everton in the Premier League and Brentford in the League Cup this season, but all those successes came by a 1-0 scoreline and Arteta’s troops do not seem to have the same fluidity away from the Emirates.

The Bees have been generally strong at home this season. A surprise 3-1 defeat to Everton is their sole defeat in six top-flight outings at the Gtech, with their past two home matches resulting in victories over Burnley (3-0) and West Ham (3-2).

With the Gunners sweating over the fitness of a few key players, today’s trip across London could prove troublesome – so backing Brentford to pick up at least a point looks like the value option.

Jensen a big price to find the net

There is an array of attacking talent on both sides but it may prove prudent to look further down the scorer markets and back Brentford midfielder Mathias Jensen to breach the Gunners defence.

The Denmark international is a classy operator in the middle of the park and he has scored three times in the league already this season, two of which came at the Gtech.

Jensen has registered only seven shots in the top flight but five of those have been on target, so he clearly makes the most of any opportunities that come his way.

At generous odds of 10/1 with Paddy Power, the 27-year-old is worth consideration in the anytime goalscorer market.

Mee and goals form tempting bet builder

Brentford could be forced into a change of formation for Arsenal’s visit after centre back Nathan Collins was ruled out through injury.

The Bees were already set to be without full backs Aaron Hickey and Rico Henry so Collins’ absence only exacerbates the selection issues facing Bees boss Thomas Frank.

He may opt to switch from his preferred 5-3-2 to 4-3-3 set-up and it would be no surprise to see Brentford’s makeshift back line pick up a few cautions.

The Gunners like to attack down the flanks, particularly using the pace of Bukayo Saka on the right, and Ben Mee could be required to cover left back Mads Roerslev at times.

England star Saka’s pace and trickery will be a constant challenge for Mee, who looks a strong candidate to pick up his first yellow card of an injury-disrupted campaign.

A punt on over 2.5 goals completes our same-game double. Five of Brentford’s six home league games this term and five of Arsenal’s previous six away assignments in all competitions have generated at least three goals.

Brentford vs Arsenal tip 3: Bet builder – Ben Mee to be carded and over 2.5 goals @ SP with Paddy Power
