Brewers vs Rays Prediction

The Tampa Bay Rays will host the Milwaukee Brewers for game two of their interleague series this Saturday from Tropicana Field on FS1. Tampa took game one in a low-scoring battle with a late sac fly, 1-0.

Brewers Betting Preview

Milwaukee moved to 24-20 after falling to Tampa Bay. The Brewers have dropped three straight series to open the month of May, and they need this manageable matchup with KC to go well this weekend. The Milwaukee offense is 4.56 scoring runs per game, while batting .239, with a .314 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.74 ERA, with a 1.26 WHIP. Christian Yelich but he leads the Brewers in hits (39) and runs (32). Willy Adames leads the team in RBI (24), despite just one in the past nine games.

Eric Lauer (4-4, 4.54 ERA, 29 Ks) will take the mound for Milwaukee. The sixth-year lefty snapped a three-game losing streak last time out with a solid performance versus KC, striking out six in 5.1 innings pitched. Lauer is 3-1 on the road this season, but it’s unlikely that form translates in Tampa, as he’s been one of the most inconsistent pitchers in the league this season.

Rays Betting Preview

Tampa Bay comes in at 33-13 after defeating Milwaukee. The Rays responded to a pair of one-run losses by stealing a close game themselves, and they’ll look to double down Saturday. The Tampa offense is scoring 5.78 runs per game, while batting .272, with a .346 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.31 ERA, with a 1.15 WHIP. Yandy Diaz has collected a hit in ten straight games, and he now leads the Rays in batting (.321) and runs scored (33). Randy Arozarena has recorded a RBI in four of the last seven games, and he’s up to a team-high 36, while batting .313. Harold Ramirez has produced a run in three of the last four, and he’s right behind Diaz for the team-lead in hitting at .319.

Zac Eflin (5-1 3.38 ERA, 23 Ks) will take the hill for Tampa. The longtime Phillies pitcher is off to the best start of his career with the Rays. Eflin responded to his first losing decision by striking out nine in six full innings in the Bronx to beat Yanks. Eflin put together a gem in his last home spot against Pittsburgh, tossing a season-high ten strikeouts over seven shutout innings.

Milwaukee vs Tampa Trends

Milwaukee is 21-23 against the spread this season, with a 19-24-1  O/U record. Tampa is 27-19 ATS this year, with a 25-18-3 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Tampa Bay comes into an ideal spot to take a 2-0 series lead here at home. Milwaukee will trot out an erratic Eric Lauer, and that could very well backfire against a Rays team that just seems to always provide timely production. The Brewers have also been struggling at the plate, and Rays starter Zac Eflin should be in for another solid outing. Trust Tampa to win game two of this interleague series.
