Burn City Best Bets: Game One Recap

These things happen, game one didn’t necessarily go as we hoped it would, in this article we’ll breakdown the Prize Picks bets. I was riding high on the Diamondbacks, and expecting a different outcome than the one we received. Of course I will be transparent and talk about my wins and losses.

Wheeler Dominated

Zach Wheeler threw a great game which we all can say is not a shocker. The real shocker here is the Diamondbacks being struck out eight times by Wheeler through six. In Wheelers last outing he struck out 10, but with how hot the Diamondbacks offense was, I did not see that coming.

Marte Couldn’t Find A Way

Now I know that going undefeated in the playoffs is incredibly hard, that’s not what we entirely thought was going to happen. Ketel Marte was smashing baseballs before tonight, and I jumped on the hype train. I took his over on 6.5 hitters fantasy score, and it clearly did not hit. The Diamondbacks second baseman got a hit, but not the numbers we were looking for.

It Was Always Longoria

Despite Longoria only being in the game for six innings and getting two at bats, he was able to grab a hit. I advised taking Longoria on a hits+runs+RBIs combo and, it feels good to get at least one right. Longoria’s seasoned veteran experience is something the Diamondbacks lack, and I knew he would help this team out.

Walker Went Hitless

The Diamondbacks first baseman did struggle at the plate tonight. We took his under on a 6.5 hitter fantasy score. Walker doesn’t hit all that well against righties, at least recently. The streakiness of the Diamondbacks first baseman really inspired me to take this bet.

Overall Record

I know Prize Picks has a different format, if you don’t hit one the whole parlay is ruined. However, this was game one. Moving forward we have a better grasp on how this series might play out, the long ball. 2-2 on the day is not something to feel bad about, though. Let’s look forward to game two, where we will have some more plays.
