After a strong start with back-to-back wins in Week 1, the Detroit Pistons have hit a considerable slump of five losses in a row. And it doesn’t look like they’re getting a break yet. On Wednesday night, the 2-6 Pistons travel to Milwaukee to take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and his 4-2 Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks opened as 12.5-point favorites – not a good sign for the Pistons.

But don’t get down about it yet – we’ve got a betting preview for Wednesday’s matchup ahead and our picks for the night’s best bets. But first, here are the odds and promos available on Caesars Sportsbook.

We’ve talked about how Detroit has a young, scrappy team this year. That young talent can be a great asset over the long course of the NBA season, and we’re still hopeful they’ll find their rhythm. But right now, that inexperience is showing in a five-game losing streak since October 28.

Of course, it hasn’t been an easy schedule. In their last two games, the Pistons hosted the 3-4 Phoenix Suns and the 6-2 Golden State Warriors. Both teams won by more than 10 points.

The Pistons have committed the most fouls and turnovers in the NBA this season. There’s been some talk of dissatisfaction among the ranks, too. Monty Williams has been starting Killian Hayes over Jaden Ivey, and some suspect this isn’t going over well.

In their last game, Detroit allowed Golden State to shoot 47.4% from the field on 46 out of 97 shooting. As a whole, the Pistons are getting 45.1 rebounds per game and 21.8 assists, which is 5th in the league in terms of passing. They have an almost 40% connection on 3-pointers and are 82.1% from the free-throw line.

In terms of individual players, Cade Cunningham stood out as a playmaker with 21 points on 7 of 18 shooting, four boards and five assists. Their best player has been Jalen Duren, but Marvin Bagley III has kept the team winning whenever he’s on the floor.

We’re still hopeful for Detroit, despite their 5-game skid against a tough schedule. But the Bucks game will be more of a learning experience than a chance to win.

The Milwaukee Bucks are looking good, but perhaps not as good as we expected after the Damian Lillard trade.

They are 4-2 and just behind the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, both stellar teams. But they have had a couple of big losses. Both to decent teams, but by a margin of 17 against Atlanta and 19 against Toronto.

They have yet to nail a blowout win, too. All their wins have been by a margin of eight points or less.

Of course, they may just need time to gel with each other. They’re still easily a standout team in the league, and we only expect them to get stronger.

Based on the point margins of the Bucks games so far, we think the Pistons could keep this one a little closer than the 12.5-point spread. Milwaukee hasn’t won by more than eight. Detroit has lost by more than 12 one time – against the Suns with a score of 120-106.

Can Monty Williams get his Pistons back on track? Not for a win, surely, but maybe for a good battle?
