Canadian best bets at the Australian Open: Odds and top picks for the opening round

Shapovalov is the best bet at the Australian Open. He is -2.5 sets. Last year was trying for him, but he's starting to find his game again. His opponent is Dusan Lajovic, who has lost nine of his last 11 matches on the hardcourt.

Pospisil vs. Auger Aliassime is the first match of the Australian Open. It's Jan. 16 at 12:45 a.m. ET.

Pospisil and Aliassime are playing in the Australian Open. Pospiil has won at least one set in eight consecutive matches and 11 of his last 12. Aliasim is a massive favourite.

Marie Bouzkova and Lucie Andreescu are playing each other in the first round of the Australian Open. Bouková is a slight favourite. Andreescu is 5-4 since the 2022 US Open and Bouksova is 7-5.

Fernandez vs. Cornet is a toss-up.

Fernandez lost in straight sets to Ysaline Bonaventure at the ASB Classic earlier this month. The 20-year-old has won each of her last three tournament openers 2-0. Fernandez's opponent Alize Cornet owns mixed career results on the hardcourt.
