The Champions League is back for the second leg of Round of 16 matches, including Manchester City vs. FC Copenhagen and Real Madrid vs. RB Leipzig.

March 6 Champions League matchups: Odds, best bets and more for Wednesday Soccer

Here are the odds and our best bets for Wednesday’s matches:

Manchester City vs. FC Copenhagen Champions League picks: Over 3.5 goals (-102 or better)

City won the opening gambit between the two clubs in Denmark, 3-1, giving them the advantage heading back to the Etihad in England. They already showcased their power against their opponent and also scored a total of nine goals in their last two matches, most recently beating Manchester United 3-1.

Given the dire situation Copenhagen is facing, they are going to need to take chances and play on the front foot. That could lead to them scoring at least a goal, but it will also create gaps in their defense, particularly on the counterattack, and City only needs the smallest glimmer of an opportunity to find the back of the net.

Manchester City vs. FC Copenhagen Best Bet: Man City 8+ shots on target (-105 or better)

Following the same logic above, it’s reasonable to expect the Citizens to spend a lot of time peppering their opponent’s goal. They had eight shots on target against United over the weekend and 15 against Luton Town during the FA Cup fifth round last week.

To make matters worse, City put 13 shots on the net and enjoyed 79% possession the first time the two sides faced off. Even if they play a more disciplined style and are content keeping players back, their natural ability and the extra space in transition should give them enough to fire the necessary shots on target.

Real Madrid vs. RB Leipzig Champions League picks: Real Madrid ML (-170 or better)

Madrid leads the Spanish LaLiga and took down their German challenger 1-0 when they met in Leipzig. They have only one loss in 27 domestic matches and are managing to play at an elite level even with a variety of injuries.

Leipzig has not fared well against strong competition recently, losing to Bayern Munich, VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen and drawing with FC Augsburg in a short span. They also won just three and drew two of their last 10 matches, putting them in a fairly negative run of form.

Real Madrid vs. RB Leipzig odds: Under 2.5 goals (+154 or better)

Madrid conceded two goals in its last match against Valencia but has a solid defense, allowing just 18 goals in LaLiga (eight clear of the second-best mark). We expect them to go ahead at some point in the match and then shut everything down and defend their two-goal aggregate lead.

Leipzig stacks up well in overall scoring but, again, has struggled when it matched up with top sides recently. It’ll be even tougher for them to go on the road to the Santiago Bernabeu and grab a couple of goals, which is why the plus-money for the reward is too enticing to pass up.
