Chelsea icon Eden Hazard's brother Thorgan leaves Dortmund in tiny transfer after four years

THORGAN HAZARD has left Borussia Dortmund for just £3.5million.

And the Belgian will miss out on the chance to play Champions League football this season.

Hazard, younger brother of ex-Chelsea star Eden, spent four seasons at Signal Iduna Park, scoring 18 goals in 122 games.

But he completed a transfer to Anderlecht on Wednesday.

The attacker, 30, put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Lotto Park and will wear the No11 shirt.

That move sees the 47-cap senior international return to Belgium permanently for the first time since 2007.

Then 14, he left AFC Tubize to sign for Lens in France before joining Chelsea alongside Eden.

He had a successful spell at Borussia Monchengladbach before moving across Germany to Dortmund in 2019.

And after leaving the Bundesliga giants, Hazard must watch his former side in Champions League action at home on the TV.

Anderlecht finished a disappointing 11th in the Belgian Pro League last season, a whopping 29 points behind Genk and Union SG.

That means there will be no European football of any kind for the Brussels club.

Hazard follows the likes of Kasper Dolberg, Thomas Delaney, ex-Chelsea youngster Tudor Mendel-Idowu and Kasper Schmeichel by joining Anderlecht this summer.

Schmeichel was a free agent after he saw his Nice contract ripped up at the end of a tumultuous season in South France for the ex-Leicester goalkeeper.

The influx of Danish players is because Brian Riemer is in charge - the Dane spent four years working under Thomas Frank at Brentford.

Thorgan's superstar brother Eden, though, appears no closer to finding a new club.

The highly-decorated winger, 32, was released by Real Madrid at the end of last season after just seven goals in 76 appearances in four seasons at the Bernabeu.

And he hinted he may be ready to retire in a documentary tracking the Belgian national team.

Hazard said: "Little by little it’s time to enjoy life with my family and friends by drinking a few beers."
