Chris Bassitt is a starting pitcher. He is available for a four-year deal. The Royals are interested in signing him. They will have to give up draft pick compensation to sign him, but they can get some players through a trade. The prediction on Bassit from MLBTR was for 3 years and $60 million. Gil Meche was signed for 5 years for $55 million in 2007. Bassett is 34 in February. His contract could be worth $19 million each year with a $15 million player option for the fourth year. It is not unreasonable for him to get paid that much. If he declines the option, he could get a two- or three- year deal instead.
