College Football Week 1 Is Upon Us! Here Are My Early Thoughts On The Board...

We are just one day away from Week 1 of College Football kicking off on Thursday Night! Week 0 was a decent appetizer but felt more like preseason. The real thing is about to start!

I spent some time going over lines yesterday and have some early thoughts. Away we go…..

1) Under 46 Florida/Utah

Utah QB Cam Rising's status is up in the air coming off a torn ACL. The line moved from Utah (-6.5) to (-4.5) today which cannot be good. This is a BRUTAL cross country trip for Florida to kick off the season, especially when dealing with a hurricane in their home state. 

Florida won in a thriller last year when Anthony Richardson put the Gators on his back. The downgrade from Anthony Richardson to Graham Mertz at QB is a steep one for the Gators. I do believe Florida will have a strong defense in year 2 under Billy Napier hence the Under 46.

I will keep a close eye on any Cam Rising news this week. If he plays I am on Utah and Under. If he doesn't just the Under.

2) Washington (-14.5) vs. Boise State

Washington has a legit shot to win the final year of the Pac 12. The Huskies are going to score early and often behind the high flying passing attack led by QB Micheal Penix and All American WR Rome Udunze. 

Vegas putting this line out at 14.5 screams bet the Huskies to me. Boise State's brand name is a helluva lot stronger than their actual team at this point. Huskies will be fired up to play the Broncos and win in a big rout here.

3) ULM (+10) vs. Army

ULM has actually played well as a home underdog under Terry Bowden the last few years with outright wins over Liberty and Troy as massive dogs. It is a huge advantage to play Army's option offense on Week 1 with the offseason to prepare. I am not sure if the Warhawks win but I will taking the +10 and a small flyer on the Money Line.

4) South Carolina (+2.5) vs. North Carolina 

This game is in Charlotte, NC at the Carolina Panthers Stadium on a neutral site. I don't trust UNC at all. While they tend to score a ton of points, the Tar Heels are flaky in big games to put it mildly. 

South Carolina is a notorious feisty underdog and comes in with a ton of momentum after beating Tennessee and Clemson to end last season. North Carolina limped to the finish after a red hot start.

I am banking on the momentum carrying over the Gamecocks and QB Spencer Rattler. They get a huge win to start Year 2 under Shane Beamer.

5) Under 48 ODU/Virginia Tech

These two teams played one of the ugliest offensive games I have ever seen in Week 1 last season. They could have played 8 quarters and not scored 48. Week 1 I also tend to lean unders.

6) South Alabama (+6.5) at Tulane

Tulane better be on upset alert this week. South Alabama has improved A TON under HC Kane Womack and almost pulled off a huge one at UCLA in Week 1 last year. Tulane lost a ton off last year's Cotton Bowl Champion squad and will be hard pressed to replace RB Tyjae Spears and two elite senior LBs. 

The Green Wave also cannot look ahead to Ole Miss in NOLA next week. I am also on South Alabama (+210) ML here.

7) LSU (-3) at Florida State

Just kidding…. I HAVE NO FREAKING CLUE what will happen in Orlando Sunday night but I cannot wait to watch!
