Colorado at Arizona State odds, expert picks: Deion Sanders’ team looks to snap losing streak

The Colorado Buffaloes ended September very differently than they started it. Now, as the month has turned to October, the Buffaloes will be looking to get back in the win column in a Pac-12 battle at the Arizona State Sun Devils this Saturday. Colorado will enter as the favorite.

The Buffaloes’ two-game skid comes in the weeks immediately after losing standout two-way player Travis Hunter to a lacerated liver. Hunter’s presence is critical to what CU does on both sides of the ball, but Shedeur Sanders’ ability to create plays ensures the Buffaloes are a threat on offense. Hunter’s absence is surely leaving a giant hole on the defensive side, where the Buffaloes are suddenly giving up a Pac-12-worst 36.6 points per game.

Lucky for CU, the Sun Devils’ 17.6 points per game on offense is also worst in the conference, ASU is allowing 28.6 points per game. That combination falls in Colorado’s favor as it tries to pick up its first conference win of the season.

Arizona State is also hunting for Pac-12 win No. 1, but its path to that feels more challenging, considering the Sun Devil offense has only 10 touchdowns through five games. You’ve simply got to be able to score more than that to win games in college football. Perhaps seeing one of the worst defenses in the country could ignite the ASU offense, which has been without freshman quarterback Jaden Rashada since Week 2.
