Colorado at Oregon odds, expert picks: The Sanders show faces its toughest test

It didn’t take Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes long to become the talk of college football and a must-see team. But we are going to learn an awful lot about the Buffaloes when they go on the road to one of the toughest stadiums in the country to play the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks are a three-touchdown favorite.

Colorado’s offense has been electric, averaging 40 points per game with quarterback Shedeur Sanders leading the way. Sanders has already thrown for 1,251 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also spreading the ball around and making huge plays in the biggest moments.

The big concern for Colorado on Saturday, however, is going to be the absence of two-way standout Travis Hunter. Hunter was injured in last week’s win against rival Colorado State when he was on the receiving end of a late hit. Hunter has been one of the most dominant players in college football so far this season as a wide receiver and defensive back, averaging over 100 snaps over the first two games before his injury. Given his play on both sides of the ball it is like being down two key starters. The good news for Colorado is that Jimmy Horn Jr. and Xavier Weaver have both proven to be big-play pass catchers.

Defensively, the Buffaloes are going to have their hands full with an Oregon offense that has averaged 58 points per game under quarterback – and Heisman contender – Bo Nix. Colorado’s defense has struggled at times over the first three games, and it has yet to face an offense with the talent the Ducks are going to roll out on Saturday.
