Cournoyer cherishes memories, friendships made during 1972 Summit Series

Yvan Cournoyer and Vladislav Tretiak met at Mirabel Airport north of Montreal in the early 1990s. They were going to Toronto for an autograph signing. Curnoyer picked T retiak up at the airport in early afternoon.

Cournoyer won five Stanley Cups during his career. He was captain of Team Canada in 1972 Summit Series. Canada won four games to Russia's three. Cournero and his wife Evelyn were invited to a 30th anniversary celebration in Moscow in 2002. The mayor of Moscow brought the house down when he presented Curnoyer with a CCCP jersey.  Curnero is a hugely popular Canadiens ambassador. His nickname is "Roadrunner". In the early 1990s, Cernoyer met with Russian goalie Vladislav Tretiak at Mirabel Airport north of Montreal.
