Cowboys vs. Eagles line, odds and predictions: Why the Eagles are favored in crucial NFC East game

The Athletic has live coverage of Cowboys vs Eagles in NFL Week 9 action.

The battle for NFC East supremacy is on the line Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys look to upset the Philadelphia Eagles.  Dallas and Philadelphia have won back-to-back games and are looking to stay undefeated in division play.

Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be televised on FOX.

Dallas and Philadelphia have two of the best offenses in football with both teams averaging nearly 28 points per game. The only team in the league averaging more is the Miami Dolphins at 33.9.

Dallas boasts one of the top defensive units in the NFL, ranking top five in points allowed per game, yards allowed per game and total takeaways despite already having had their bye. They face a challenging task trying to slow down an Eagles offense that is one of just five teams that has scored 10 or more touchdowns both through the air and on the ground.

What we learned in NFL Week 9: Ravens team to beat, Dobbs' big day; was McDaniels the problem?

Wide Receiver AJ Brown has six straight games of more than 125 receiving yards and averages nearly eight receptions a game. Running back D’Andre Swift needs just 47 yards to set a career-high in rushing yards and is averaging almost five yards per carry. Jalen Hurts has struggled lately with turnovers, throwing five interceptions and losing two over his last four games. Week 8 saw an improvement, however, as Hurts didn’t throw an interception for the first time since Week 4.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense are coming off of their best game of the year after scoring a season-high 43 points versus the Los Angeles Rams. It was Prescott’s first game this season throwing for more than 300 yards and just his second with multiple passing touchdowns. Tony Pollard continued to struggle, however. Expectations were high for Pollard taking over as the lead running back role from Ezekiel Elliot this season, but he has not lived up to the hype. He has just one game with more than 100 rushing yards and hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 1.
