Cubs set to call up ex-Yankees prospect for MLB debut

Cubs are set to call up ex-Yankees prospect Hayden Wesneski for his MLB debut.

Wesneski was traded to the Cubs ahead of the August 2nd trade deadline in exchange for Scott Effross. He will make his MLB debut against the Cardinals.

Wesneski is being called up to the Cubs after Justin Steele is placed on the 15-day injured list with a lower back strain. Kervin Castro is designated for assignment to open a spot for Wesnesk. Effross was drafted by the Yankees in the sixth round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
