Kevin Alcantara, Brennen Davis added to Cubs' 40-man roster

Kevin Alcantara, Ben Brown, Brennen Davis and Ryan Jensen added to Cubs' 40-man roster. They are removed from the pool of eligible players for the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 7 at the Winter Meetings. There is still a long list of players from Chicago's farm system who remain unprotected.

Kevin Alcantara, Brennen Davis and Brown are the Cubs' top prospects. They are all in their 20s. Alcanteara was acquired from the Yankees at the 2021 Trade Deadline. Brown was traded from Philadelphia to Chicago at Trade deadline. Davis was the All-Star Futures Game MVP in '21, but he's been plagued by injuries since then. Jensen is Chicago's No. 28 prospect. He had a 4.25 ERA in 17 starts for Double-A Tennessee this past season.

Cubs have added Kevin Alcantara and Brennen Davis to their 40-man roster. They also acquired Miles Mastrobuoni from Tampa Bay in exchange for Alfredo Zarraga. The deal makes room on the 40th- roster for 38 players.

Yohendrick Pinango, Chase Strumpf, Luis Devers and Kohl Franklin were left unprotected. They are all prospects who played in the minor leagues this year. They were drafted by the Cubs.
