Dave Portnoy suffered one of the worst golf betting experiences you’ll ever see at The Players

Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy tweeted a video of himself and colleagues watching The Players Championship, and his trial following Viktor Hovland on the par-5 second hole during Saturday’s third round.

Needing Hovland to win the hole over his opponent, things were looking cozy when a 10-foot miss for birdie left Portnoy thinking he had just won $10K, only needing the Norwegian to clean up his birdie putt from inside three feet.

Then disaster struck.

For a man that is said to be worth several million dollars, 10K is pretty much 10 bucks to the average punter, but the video showed how much it means to be just, well, right — and how much a walk of shame comes into play when you’re wrong.

Reaction to the video took every angle, with many taking to the committed gambler with replies such as Jimmy Funk’s comment that this is why, “I don’t gamble anymore,” to, “Big Cat seems like the worst person to be around after a bet misses.”

Some pointed out that Hovland isn’t one to place faith in when on the greens, and the numbers back it up.

Hov currently ranks outside of the top-150 for around-the-green and around 100 for putting, but it will hurt “El Presidente” more to see the world number 11 hole a 5-footer on the same hole for birdie 24 hours later.
